Board Meeting

So Tuesday next week is the Co-op Board meeting….  What does this mean?  This means that the Board will "award" a contractor the building structural work - whoo hoo!!!  This is likely to be awarded to the lowest bidder - kind of makes sense as the building is not made of money.  Then we have to make some decisions…….

Anyway the good news, bad news is… that on Tuesday we will know who has been awarded the bid and then hopefully either by the end of the week or the following week we will be back on construction.  Yeah!!!!

This week's work was finding a new bed - the pop up trundle is just not cutting it :)

Mini update

Well this week my update is limited as I have been in Zurich all week.  Well tell a lie had a fabulous weekend back in the UK.

Breakfast and lunch with my my parents on Saturday, then went to see Matt & Josie (and of course Eve & Alice) on Saturday evening in Richmond.  Lovely early morning coffee down by Richmond River and then over to Putney to see Alex & Justyna (and Tomek).  Headed home to Amersham on the Metropolitan line with the rowdy Chelsea and Tottenham supporters on their way to Wembley - the noise in the carriage was huge and the space I had to stand minute!!!!!  Football supporters on their way to a 6pm game are already well on their way.

Then a nice peaceful dinner at home to celebrate my Dad's birthday.

So what of the apartment……  Well our architects and contractors have been kicking some butt of the building managing agent and building structural engineer so we may finally (but let's not hold our breaths) get the drawings/scope of work for the building structural work today.  Can you hear the fan fares - I can't!!!  Allegedly the structural engineer worked until 11 pm last night - can you hear the violins - no neither can I - if she had just delivered what she had been supposed to deliver back on April 5th she may not have had to work so late.

In a nut shell - nothing to report.

Heading home tomorrow morning after being challenged as a leader!!!  Looking forward to seeing my hubbie - 10 days away does wonders when you are renovating.

P*** Up in a Brewery Anyone

If I was this disorganised in my profession I would be fired.......
If I submitted things piecemeal and in dissarry to the Board they would not approve the request....
But for structural engineers and building managing agents it seem to be just A Okay!!!!!!
What am I ranting about.... Well as you know from a previous blog we need to receive structural drawings from the buildings engineer detailing the structural work that needs to be done so we can bid on the job. Today I get the mail "your contractors were given the drawings" - which one specifically you may ask, and I did - hmmmm, not so sure about that what the answer - helpful. Followed up by "another shareholder provided the information on Thursday to your architect" - well in fact on 29 March the aforementioned shareholder did provide "sketches" of the work to be done in 8B at the demising wall with 8C only, but this is not really what we are looking for :( Then "I have been in with other contractors to bid on behalf of the building" - bid on what I ask, well the work... Who has defined the work?????
Anyway, off to the theater tonight to take my mind off it all.

I would say watch this space, but it may be like watching paint dry. Can I get more analogies in.
Really must get Shorty to start updating this and then it might not be quite so doom and gloom!

Easter weekend

Had a lovely 3 day weekend up in Vermont and got a lot of chores done. Although maybe not all. I think we might be the only people without a stolen car, but with no VIN number anywhere to be found. The joys of hitting deer at regular intervals. It seems as though when we hit deer no 1 the whole dashboard was removed along with our VIN number. The garage (who shall remain nameless) apparantely ordered us a new one, but forgot to tell us about it. Try re-registering a car in a new state without a VIN number - doesn't work!!!
Ah well had a lovely supper in a new restaurant in Manchester with Emma & Leighton.
Saturday night celebrated Remi turning sweet 16 at the Parsons gaff - lovely evening also.
May take a leaf out of Emma & Leightons book and hire Oskar and Remi around the house.

Hope you had a happy Easter

Hurry up and wait....

Seems to be the current mantra. No news to really update you all with. The co-op strucutral engineer has been in and knows what she wants us to do. She just needs to now formally present this to us so our contractors can bid on the job. In the meantime there is not much they can work on. Although they may start on the front window......
