Eventful week

Well last week was quite an eventful week.  Not least for those in Boston - what an awful thing to have happened.

Poor old hippo has had a time of it.  After having had a lump removed two weeks ago within 3 days she had pulled out 2 stitches so back to the vet.  She was then progressing very well so off to the NY vet to get all the stitches taken out - they were very happy with how the wound had healed…  Well hippo not so much - stitches came out at 5pm, by the time we were home at 7pm the wound was open again.

What to do?  Well we called on the kindly VT vet to find out whether he could do the rest of the surgery on Friday and then we didn't need to sew her up again.  He obliged so we did a quick trip up to VT on Thursday night and back Friday afternoon with a seriously groggy dog - poor poppet.  She now has a much larger scar and drainage tubes and still the cone of shame.  Bless.

Shorty managed to get Landy out in the sunshine to take the skis in, but the ski shops were all closed - foiled.  I think he just wanted an excuse to get the car out.

Saturday we headed over to Staten Island!!!!  For the annual New York Cares Spring Clean Up - and boy did we clean up some strange stuff - once I have synced my phone and computer (haven't got the hang of iCloud as yet) - I will post some photos.

Saturday night we scrubbed up from the garbage land fill and met with some of Jon's clients.

Sunday - unpacking - yippee!!!!  How did we accumulate so many books?  How did Jon manage to watch a whole rugby game and claim he was unpacking……..

Still much more to do and will then take some photos.

Not a lot has happened that is interesting lately, but thought it would be an idea to put fingers to keyboard and give a brief update on shortys travels!!!!

Ski season is now almost over, or so we thought.  Hired a minivan - sorry to anyone I may offend, but I AM NEVER buying a minivan or being seen dead in one again.  What a PIECE OF ……  yes we had fun with the hire care….  Not least in mid April getting up to Vermont and we could not get the car past Route 11 as there was freezing sleet and 4" of it!  So we had to park the car in someones drive overnight and then Jon managed to rally car drive it up to the house so we could pack it with all our paintings etc… and drive it back down to NYC.  It was quite an experience, and one not to repeat.

So everything is down from Vermont and in NYC and the place is a tip, so now we have 2 weekends in the city to actually do some unpacking and organizing of the flat.

Lara arrived from the Philippines today - 45 mins stuck on the plane at the gate and then another hour in customs as the immigration computers had broken down!  So nice to catch up with Lara and hear all the news from SE Asia.

Work, enough said……….

So here we are mid April - how did we get here so quickly.  Been gorgeous in Brooklyn as long as the wind doesn't blow.  May even need to get the AC working soon
