Progress…. Well not sure I see it…….

So thought I would take a quick peek before the site visit tomorrow - seems to the untrained eye (mine) that there is limited progress, but I persevered and I think what is being done is the electrics…… There are lights in rooms and in fact the master bedroom is coming together - it even has a ceiling.

This is looking along the corridor on the 7th floor - the framed out opening will become the hall cupboard - probably where all the trackle will live!!!

This is going to be where all the ugly TV and DVD stuff will be wifi'd up to - out of sight, out of mind - hopefully

Jon's man cave is coming together

We have lights in the ceiling - should be a good test tomorrow evening of how effective the insulation is - otherwise back to square one!

Detail of the sash for the renovated window

Our bedroom is coming along - going to be quite big

We decided that this cute little radiator would look lovely under the window in the master bedroom - so it got a 2nd chance

Looking back into our bedroom from the hallway - a little dark I know but was taking quick and dirty photos!!!!

A little over exposed, but the only way to compensate for the light coming into a dark room - even getting to practice my photography skills (or lack thereof).

General Update

What a lovely 3 day weekend celebrating my birthday with hubbie, parents and surprise guests Emma & Leighton at dinner.  Thank you to everyone for their very kind messages and lovely pressies.

Planted a hydrangea in Vermont - certainly a first - followed all the instructions - pictures to follow if it survived the week :)

Couple of rounds of golf - well I hacked at the ball a few times (I certainly get the benefit of my membership with the number of shots I take).  Did sink a very long put.

Apartment - well the current debate is around the colour of the framing of the master bedroom window.  Who knew that there was a difference between paint grade and stain grade wood - well maybe I am the only person who didn't.  I would like it to look as it did - slightly worn and faded, and there is another camp that is veering down the white colouring.......  Any inputs much appreciated.

Site visit tomorrow so will take some pictures then.

Long weekend in Vermont

Headed up to Vermont by train this evening to surprise my parents who flew in from the uk yesterday. Broken ankle and all. Hats off to BA who I hear looked after my Mum and Dad really well. So was thinking a relaxing morning tomorrow horse riding with Georgia and Ella before they head off to Singapore. I am really going to miss the Parsons family. They have been (and I am sure will continue to be) very close friends. Only spanner in the horse riding works is the weather. I think my parents have brought the uk weather with them. Ah well. 3 day weekend with my parents and good old friends. Doesn't get better than that. So there will be no construction feedback or photos. Off to enjoy my weekend.

Galapagos

Some photos from our trip to Galapagos - these are all the above water pictures

Lonesome George - may he rest in peace

Slowly but surely…..

Progress is being made.  We are starting to see some of the rooms taking shape.  The electrics are looking like we may soon have switches and sockets.

On the bad news (well good news for Brandi) front, our landlady has entered into contract to sell the rental we are living in, so may need to move out for the last couple of months of renovation :(

They have started on the restoration of the stained glass windows that sit at the top of the master bedroom window.

Walls are going up in the spare room - I do hope they remember to cut out the shape for the windows!

The spare room cupboard taking shape

Detail of the hand carpentry that is being done on the window

Where the two ladders are will be where our bed and bedside tables will sit - again starting to look like a room.

Looking into the master bedroom - where all the "stuff" is will be where all our "stuff will go in the cupboard

Looking from the man cave - which doesn't have walls as yet - across the atrium to the wall of the spare bedroom
Need to turn your computer sideways!!!
