Been a while

Haven't taken many photos for a while as haven't really been around.  Shorty has been studying for his Series 3 and I have been keeping out of the way.

Headed down to Alabama..... Roll.....Tide to work with Habitat for Humanity yet again.  We were a small team this time, only 10 of us, but we made up for it in spirit and sweat.

We were working in Tuscaloosa where a large (F5 - I believe) tornadoe hit in April 2011.  We were working on Mrs Hill's house for her and her 2 grandsons.  Steven, our foreman, was super organised and got us all to work in no time.

In 2 and half days we built a front porch, a shed, a safe room and laid out the pre-build for a blitz build the following week (this is when a house is built in a week).

Some photos:

How many people does it take to stablise a safe room wall?

Yes this store does exist and not just in the movies

Classic building site, lots of people standing around while one person works!

  1. Good work. I need a shed, so next time you are in UK, you can build me one! Why not get this team working on the Montague Street duplex. Help the architect to meet the deadlines.

  2. Not a bad idea re Montague street. Although hardwood floors going down rapidly... Will build you a shed in 2013!
